A memorial concert for Climax Blues Band frontman Colin Cooper was held at The Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford, on Thursday 16th April 2009. Colin sadly died on 3rd July 2008 following a long battle against cancer.
The sell-out concert, conceived and promoted by Eric Furze of Guitar and Son, Stafford, was a great success, raising funds and awareness for the fantastic work done by Macmillan nurses and also prostate cancer research.
Many thanks to the fans and friends who came from all over Europe to show their respect for the man and the music.
Special guests joining Climax Blues Band for the evening were:
Roy Wood of The Move, ELO and Wizzard, John "Rhino" Edwards and Jeff Rich of Status Quo, Steve Gibbons and John Caswell, John Cuffley (CBB), Steve Hayes of Nearly Dan, Dave McGarry, Chris Gumbley, Carl Hemmingsley and Ric Sandford, Neil Pennington, who opened the show with an acoustic set, and compere Des Parton.
