Blu C Red

16th Feb 2011

This is the title of one of Neil's tunes that was going to be, er, a blues song...

Having been involved in the British blues scene for many years — with Climax Blues Band and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, amongst others — Neil thought he would like to create his own instrumental blues-based tune, playing all the parts on his midi'd basses.

Something went horribly awry, the result being Blu C Red: Blu, the traditional blues chord progression form, and Red: the Majorcan holiday and Spanish influenced section. When Clinton Beale, the guitarist on the piece, suggested adding vocals to the already strange melody, singer Vix Vox (Victoria Perks) of Fuzzbox fame, was enlisted to write lyrics with the aid of old friend, Baron Beetmoll Troy.

Chris Gumbley on saxophones and Ian Palmer on drums complete the chaos.
